Children's & Teens' Faith Formation
The Catholic Parishes of the Blue Hills provide children and teens’ faith formation programs for grades Kindergarten through the celebration of Confirmation. Classes for Kindergarten – grade 7 will be held at the offices of the Blue Hills Collaborative, 20 Como Road, Hyde Park, just behind St. Anne Church.
2023 Faith Formation Schedule
Classes for Kindergarten – grade 7 will begin Sunday, October 1st, from 10 – noon at the collaborative center.
Confirmation Prep classes will usually be held on the last Sunday of the month following the 10:30 Family Mass (lunch will be served) at St. Pius from 11:20 – 1:30.

Sun, Feb 4: EXTENDED CLASS 10:00 – 2:00. A PARENT, A GODPARENT, OR A GRANDPARENT, PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE LAST 45 MINUTES OF CLASS: FROM 1:15 – 2:00 P.M.
Sun, Feb 25 – 10:30 Family Mass at St. Pius X followed by Children's Stations of the Cross from 11:30-Noon
Sun, Mar 3 CLASS 10:00 – 12:30 (extended 30 minutes) CHILDREN WILL PRACTICE IN THE RECONCILIATION ROOM AT ST. ANNE CHURCH. Please pick your child up at 12:30 at the church.
RECONCILIATION: WED, MAR 6 OR 13 AT ST. ANNE AT 6:00 PM
Sat, Mar 9 – Communion workshop at the collaborative, from 2:00 –3:45, followed by a scavenger hunt at St. Anne Church and 4:00 Mass. (please, a parent, grandparent or Godparent must accompany the child to help with First Communion banners)

at St. Pius 11:30 – 1:30 in church hall.

Sun, Apr 28 – 10:30 CLOSING Family Mass, hosted by Confirmation class, followed by lunch in the hall for candidates, parents & sponsors.
2023-2024 Curriculum
Grades K – 7 will use Pflaum “Gospel Weeklies” Faith Formation Program, as well as Christ Our Life, New Evangelization Edition (Loyola Press)
- Grades K-1 use Christ Our Life and “Promise”
- Grades 2 & First Communion Prep use Christ Our Life
- Grades 3-5 use ”Venture”
- Grades 6 & 7 use “Visions”
- Confirmation Prep, Grades 8 & 9, use Pflaum: "Visions" & "Gifted With the Spirit, as well as video material from Dynamic Catholic’s “Decision Point”.
Children's & Teens' Sacramental Preparation
Following their Baptism, children in Catholic faith formation receive three more sacraments, the final two Sacraments of Initiation (First Communion and Confirmation), as well as the first Sacrament of Healing, Reconciliation.
Grades 1 & 2: First Reconciliation/First Communion
Grades 1 & 2: First Reconciliation/First Communion: The sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion have traditionally been celebrated in grade 2, but many times, for one reason or another (like COVID), that does not happen. We always welcome families with children and teens who are older than grade 2 to prepare for these important Sacraments. The Catholic Parishes of the Blue Hills believes that preparing children/teens for Reconciliation and Eucharist is a wonderful opportunity for families and supports parents, grandparents, and Godparents as the primary educators of their children/grandchildren/Godchildren in our Catholic faith. We will do our very best to meet your family where you are and assist all of you on your faith journey.
Regardless of parish affiliation, students and their families are welcome to celebrate First Communion at any of our three parishes.
Grades 8, 9 & 10: Confirmation
The Confirmation program for the Catholic Parishes of the Blue Hills is two (2) years, offered to students beginning at the start of Grade 8. Teens who attend Catholic schools are required to participate in Year II only.
