Children and Teens Sacramental Preparation

Following their Baptism, children in Catholic faith formation receive three more sacraments, the final two Sacraments of Initiation (First Communion and Confirmation), as well as the first Sacrament of Healing, Reconciliation.

Grades 1 & 2: First Reconciliation/First Communion

Although children receive their first Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion in second grade, there is a two year program that prepares them to receive these sacraments.

In 2021, the dates for these sacraments still to be determined due to COVID. Tentative dates will be posted as soon as possible.

  • First Reconciliation:
  • First Communion:
    • St. Anne:
    • Most Precious Blood:
    • St. Pius X:
    • Parent Meetings:

Regardless of parish affiliation, students and their families are welcome to celebrate First Communion at any of our three parishes.

Grades 9 & 10: Confirmation

The Confirmation program for the Blue Hills Catholic Collaborative is two (2) years, offered to students beginning their freshman year of high school. Teens who attend Catholic schools are required to participate  Year II only.

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred by the Very Reverend Brian McHugh, Episcopal Vicar of the Central Region of the Archdiocese of Boston on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at St. Anne Church, at 11:30 a.m. (Please note this date may change depending on status of COVID at the time.)

Family Service Day

For parents of first and second-year Confirmation Prep students, January 6th is Family Service Day. Parents will gather with their teen at 12:30 PM to share a meal. Once finished, families will be asked to help assemble baskets of household goods that will be given by Friends of Boston’s Homeless to people who are exiting the homeless shelter system and starting a new life in their own home. Following that, families will be asked to build a second project designed to help the less fortunate in our own community.

Sponsor Meeting

For those families with a teen who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in 2019, we will also be holding our Confirmation Sponsor meeting, so families are encouraged to bring your teen’s sponsor, as well. If the sponsor is not available that day (lives in Ireland, etc.), then a parent may stand in for the sponsor at this meeting. This meeting will take place immediately following the conclusion of the other activities. Thank you to all who participate.
