Youth Ministry

Why are young people important? Because these years are formative, socially and psychologically. And also because they are formative from a religious view. People who fall away from faith often do so during times of alienation. Young people are defined as young ages 12-18 in junior high or high school.

Youth Ministry

“We must offer young people a spiritually challenging and world shaping vision that meets their hunger for the chance to participate in a worthy adventure.”*

Catholic Church’s Goals for Youth Ministry*

Goal 1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today
Strategies

  • Use abundance of adult and young adult leaders who live their lives as Christ’s disciples and can witness to how hard it is
  • Demonstrate that Christ has better answers to the problems that the secular majority has no problem answering, so that young people are empowered to make better life choices

Goal 2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community
Strategies

  • Expose to service, church life, Church doctrine
  • Explain the importance of evangelization and pastoral care
  • Develop a sense of Catholic responsibility

Goal 3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person
Strategies

  • Focus on the whole person: the physical, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of the teenagers
  • New evangelization: Always teaching and being living witnesses to intellectual and moral values
  • Use outside resources that enhance the personal and spiritual growth of the teenagers
  • Develop leadership skills in those willing to participate

Blue Hills Collaborative is proud to be developing a comprehensive youth ministry program using these strategies to accomplish these goals so that our youth can achieve the Ultimate Goal: Salvation in Jesus Christ
